7 Tips for Cleaning Your Gas Stove

The burners are part of the gas stove, where food is prepared. Like all burners, gas stoves need periodic cleaning to maintain good condition. Here are some tips for cleaning your gas stove.

1. Turn it off and let it cool

Before starting to clean, you must ensure that all controls are off, that the cooking plate and grates are freezing, and that the gas is turned off to avoid accidents.

2. Remove the parts

Remove the burners, grates, grill plates, inner burner bowls, and the knob from the gas stove, if possible. Remove the grates, lids, and burners to clean them separately.

After this, soak the parts in warm water and soap for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. This will soften the hardened residue. After the time is up, scrub them to remove any remaining dirt. You can use a sponge, plastic scouring, or non-abrasive fiber pad.

Once you’ve cleaned the parts, rinse and shake them to remove excess water. Then, dry them with a clean kitchen towel. Before putting them back on, check to see if they’re scorched.

3. Choosing a cleaning solution

You can use soap or detergent, water, and a soft cloth to clean the stove. Another option is a mixture of water and dish soap. Some homemade cleaning options include:

• Alcohol and ammonia diluted in a 1:1 ratio

• Baking soda and water in a 3:2 ratio

• Non-gel toothpaste

4. Cleaning the grates

Remove the removable grates and soak them in warm, soapy water—Scrub with a cloth or paper towel. Let them dry completely before moving on to the knobs.

5. Disassemble and Clean Control Knobs

Remove the knobs and wash with warm, soapy water. Replace them after they have dried completely.

6. Clean the Burner

Clean the holes with a paper towel, thin wire, or pin. Do not use anything that will break and clog the holes. A soft bristle brush can be used for a gentle scrubbing action. Rinse with clean water and a soft cloth.

7. Clean the Surface

Apply the cleaning solution with a paper towel or microfiber cloth. You can also soak a sponge or soft fiber with the mixture. Another option is to use a glass cleaner inside the stove and wipe with a damp cloth.
